Default Rear hatch won't open and interior lights don't work.

I noticed that the interior light on the roof of the hatch was overlapped by the interior vinyl, so I pulled the light out to try to fix it without removing any of the wires connected to the light. When I got the light back in, the electric hatch button wouldn't work, nor would any interior lights turn on.
I was wondering if any of you would happen to know how to fix the problem...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew

I would suggest that pushing the light back in has shorted against the hatch metal, and blown the fuse...I was having a cuppa with my local wrench once, standing next to a customer's 928, and smelled something burning - looked around, and there was melting insulation dripping out of this car's hatch light.....spontaneoulsy shorted to the bodywork.

Fixed...thanks!

That's what I originally thought, so I tried replacing a fuse, but I accidentally replaced the wrong one (the one right next to the correct fuse). I went back to have another look only to figure out that I replaced the wrong fuse...the lights and hatch now work.

Thanks again,

Andrew

Note put some heat shrink on all of the headliner light connectors so no metal is showing.
make sure the lights are all connected correctly

Glad you figure out it was just a fuse. Mine don't work from time to time because of the little door open switch gets stuck or is dirty. I just flick it with my finger whenever the hatch won't open. One more on the pesky but not quite bad enough to worry about list.
