Default Tranny - Diff Fluid Change - Recommendations?

Hey Folks,

Doing a tranny and diff service on my 85 AT today.

Was wondering what brand / type fluids I should pickup and also in what quantities?

TIA for the help.

Cheers

Searched on here and several like Mobil 1 fluid. IIRC dextron III or above is sufficient (may check your manual).

Used it last weekend when I swapped out gasket and filter. Did not drain torque converter. I purchased 4 qts and have more than a half quart left.

I've been real happy lately with Redline full synth along with a bottle of atf seal treatment, the diff I use Redline 90. Since you didn't drain the tc the first time around, I'd start over with completely fresh trans fluid.

Thanx fellas,

Ended up going with a Valvoline full synth. Couldn't find any of the others today and I was in a hurry to get it done.
Do appreciate the responses though!

Cheers

Honestly, it doesn't really matter much. The trans will love the fresh fluid, fresh filter, fresh diff lube. Change it out... and then drive the **** out of it.

Mike:

Dont forget that we discovered that how the fluid tastes, matters too.
