Jones AutoWerks is supposed to be pretty good. I was not impressed with the work they had done on my first 928 when the original owners had it, but I think that was because they were trying to save money instead of doing things right.

I do hear good things about them from others.

I had Jones do a set of 356 heads a few years back and was very pleased. I know they're very reputable in the aircooled world but haven't heard much on watercooled. Bruce (novector) is in San Antonio, isn't he? Mabye he's got some feedback.

TPWS here in Austin is pretty good. Are you bringing it up here this sat for the GTG? We can't check everything, but I am sure we can look it over some for ya in the parking lot.

TPWS is VERY good, but SO IS TIM!!! There are few things that he has not PERSONALLY done on at least one of his 928's! SO, if Tim gets a good chance to look your car over you will be in good shape I think. Same for Mark Robinson. These guys know 928's VERY, VERY WELL and will be a huge help for you Robert.

I nearly left out Ben...Ben has done a full rebuild on his S4 engine, so I would say he is VERY qualified to look a car over.

Jim Willman has taken just about everything off his OB and cleaned, fixed it and put it back on and David S. (Korwen) is doing the same thing with his S... We have a LOT of DIY guys here in Austin now that I think about it! It is a VERY different crew than when we first started the 928OC here back in '97! Back then pretty much Mark Reviel and Patrick and Mark Robinson were the only ones working on their cars. The majority of us had TPWS or other shops working on them for us.

Hope to see you all Sat!

Jones Autowerks on Iota drive is kind of the "de facto" Porsche shop. It's a husband/wife ownership; great people and have been in business at least 20 years that I know of. I do most of the wrenching myself, so I can't really speak to their quality--but EVERYONE in the local PCA swears by them.
