Ok Forum - I was out driving the kids to school in dad's 928 and noticed that car can bottom out when driving through bumps/dips in road.
I take it the shocks need to be repalced. If so..is this hard to do? Will it screw up my alignment..
Before I tackel this job, I need a blessing from the 928 god's...i

What he said. Check the ride height first. A search here will return plenty of info about that process.
If you adjust the height or replace the shocks, you will need an alignment. Check out the New users post at the top of the forum on info you will need to know before you have the alignment done.

215,000: probably needs springs too. Alignment needs to be done on a system (Hunter 4000) w/o lifting and car needs to settle after this work is done and before the alignment. Going back, the suspension is designed for an optimum ride height and shouldn't be lowered, so you need to check some measurements found in the WSM. After lifting it takes several miles, 5 to 50, depending on how rough the road for it to settle. But it needs to settle completely before alignment.

k...I will research the "ride height" and check that out...I will also go through my service records to see if the shocks/springs were ever replaced.

If it is the car in your avatar pic it definately looks like the front has been lowered. I reset mine not long ago and it is much higher than in your pic. The stock ride height looks kind of funky but that is factory spec.

Wouldn't surprise me to find original shocks in your beast. They're toast. Your rear ride height looks very low, front so-so. Hard to tell from that angle. You can do the shocks in a day if you've done it before, 2 the first time, and you need the right tools i.e. a good spring compressor. Several write-ups around here. It will make a world of difference with fresh shocks, correct ride height, and a good alignment.
