finally got rid of Windows Explorer and installed Google Chrome.
Explorer would not let me add pics and blew up often when trying to view some web sites.
basically testing my new found ability to post pics. a couple of my intake refresh from winter of 2009-2010.

Jeez that is awesome! Love the colors! Was your goal to follow the Porsche badge color scheme? I did something similar on mine: black spider, red fuel rails/pressure regulators, gold vacuum diaphragms (vacuum limiter and vacuum advance) and blue ignition coil. When I had the cam towers off, I painted them gloss black with red lettering, looked pretty good on the bench, but a minor fuel leak too off some of the paint, and now with some other leaks that cropped up, more paint will likely come off
... did you use some sort of engine enamel? I also like that the screw heads on the hose clamps are all hidden, makes it all look much cleaner!!!

Great looking engine bay, Bob. Gotta make you happy when you open the hood. Looks like you've been thru the beast. Way to go, be sure to mash the loud pedal, often.

Looks really good and I like the color scheme. Get a jump post cover, you want to keep any water off that connector.

Great look. I assume you used paint?
I just found out that Columbia Coatings has a color card that can match most solid colors for powder coating. I found one very close to the exterior color of my 78.

What is the purpose of the tubing coming off the front end of the manifold?
Altogether, Very nice.
The pre S4 engine though is messy as heck. Always reminds me of spiders and snakes- Alice Cooper designed.

LOVE IT! Man, I would LOVE to do that exact color on my Ruby red '84...it would match the seats and door inserts!
It needs it too! Well, it does not look to bad, but still would look WAY better like yours! Did you powder coat or paint? What did you use to pre-clean with?
Great work!

The 16v cars had to have one, you could get a dangerous buildup of *** whuppun in the system.
Fortunately, exhaust mods clear the restriction. It sounds like this when uncorked:

been out the past couple days so no chance to check and reply.
Chrome over Firefox? one of the other engineers I work with suggested. but I KNEW I had to do something as I just could not figure out why IE kept crashing.
thanks for all the compliments. the original intent was to just replace the rubber fuel lines, slipped on that first step, and went all the way to deck. just became a WYAAIT( see pic). the 928 was at a mechanic friend's garage. intended to use his lift to replace the shocks/MMs. still have them in the box. hope I can get that done this winter, but have a LOT of work to do on the track 911.
remove everything, and clean ... clean ... clean ... paint ... paint .. repaint ... LOL.
replaced rubber fuel lines, had injectors cleaned, plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, coil, coolant hoses, green wire, some vac lines, windshield washer pump repl, clean tank, new filler neck, etc. went the full monty![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
after all the work, was a little anxious whether it would start/run. put pressure to the fuel lines, had to snug one fitting. cranked her over and she fired after about 5 sec. sputtered a bit before settling into a smooth idle. I am amazed she ran as good as she did before all the work. my biggest surprise was the coil. there was a zip tie holding the wire into the coil. when I removed where the wire went into the coil was a black carbonized stump.
and yes, I BaWAAAaaaaaa it quite a bit. she pulls strong and smooth all the way to redline.![burnout](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/burnout.gif)
I think I see a 50-75 hp shot of nitros in my future, or SC if I can afford that route.
replaced leaking CAT with a Y pipe when I first got it a couple years ago. now want to replace the pumpkin with a magnaflow. think the pumpkin's baffles are rusted out, a bit loud and when I back off the burble/pop sounds like happening in an empty garbage can.
I have really enjoyed driving her this summer. mid summer bit the bullet and replaced all the AC O rings from the expansion valve forward, repl the drier, and had to also repl the condenser as the fitting to the drier was corroded and in the process of removing it tore/stripped all the threads on the condenser's fitting. Evac, two cans of R-12 and she blew ice cold the rest of the summer.
to try to answer questions. Basically I went the cheap paint route, but happy with the results. I got a simulated CAD paint kit from The Eastwood company. my mistake was applying too much of the gold base, but still looked good. the intake was done in caliper paint. I cleaned the intake with Alumi-brite ( something like that), ground smooth, and then uses a paint prep cleaner. I got frustrated at one point as the caliper paint would get areas that 'wrinkled up'
. so sand, prep, repaint until I got a good base, then put a couple more coats.
color scheme? yea, try to match the Porsche crest colors. also compliments the ruby red color. hidding the intake hose clamp heads was my friend's idea, it does look clean.
I had seen a few people put a hood crest on the plenum and it looked great. I would have liked to do my cam towers too, but at my home garage I had my 911 on jack stands doing a lot of work too.
James, my interior colors are dk brn and tan. fortunately the interior is in overall very good shape. ironically, my 911 interior is the same dk brn, and I had gotten some leather stain to redo the seats, but they got replaced by Sparco EVO2 before I got around to that. at some point I may do a little refresh on the 928's interior with it.
we are getting a real taste of winter at the moment. I should be taking the 928 to my friend's garage soon. still have those shocks and MM, but also thinking of refresh the fuel tank, repl those rubber fuel lines, preemptively replace the fuel pump, and new fuel filter. shocks/MM can wait.
last winter I did the work on the 911 on jack stands in my home garage. at this point I am really thinking of getting a scissor lift. need to do a complete brake rebuild, along with drop the motor for a tune/refresh.
gives me something to do during the winter to keep me out of trouble.![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)
I really want to complement everybody on the 928 forum. it was a big help in deciding the 928 to buy to fit my needs. then got lots of info from postings that has enabled me to do all this work.
and a special thanks to Roger Tyson
he definitely earned whatever he made on the parts I got by providing a lot of advise and constant encouragement.

Bob, it looks good, keep up the good work , the intake looks good with the car color..
also get a new air cleaner the one you have in position is upside down.
FWIW, and Previously mentioned get a hot post cover (88 S4 will work)and also get a NEW hot post CAP ( threaded),
remove the 11mm hot post stud drill a hole into the end of it,
fit a bolt that will fit the cap then JB weld it into the end of the stud,
leave about 5 threads proud of the stud face so the cap will thread onto it,(trim off the head of the bolt you used with a dremel)
this will then allow the hot post post cover to be held captive. by the threaded cap
Firefox by Mozilla seems to work very well

Hmmm.
air clearer upside down? have to look.
Mr. Merlin,
hot post? sorry for being dense, but I am not clear on this suggestion. there is a black plastic cap on what I think you are referring to. can you post a pic of what you are suggesting?
this is what I love about this forum. endless advise to help keep our sharks in top shape.
