OB shift **** boot frame placement and replacement
I am reassembling my center console and the shift boot frame (#23) was ontop of the rubber sleeve (#20) when I pulled it apart.
The parts manual shows the frame below the rubber sleeve. Which way is this suppose to be installed?
Additionally my frame is cracked (plastic does not seem the best material for the task) and the rubber sleeve falling apart. Are there replacements available or better solutions?
Thanks.

I'm pretty certain it is below the rubber (as indicated in the manual) on my 82. I don't think the rubber would last very long with the frame pushing down on it (installed the way it was on yours).

My S4 had the rubber on top IIRC. Change the rubber boot, a damaged boot gets in the way of smooth shifting since it bunches up. Parts are available from any of the big 3 suppliers.
