Default Into Storage

Put the little red car away for the winter, had almost white out conditions here in Vermont yesterday, for about 20 minutes. So I called the insurance company and suspended coverage till the spring thaw. Took me about two hours to get all the storage prep done, Cleaned the car inside and out, Tires to 40 psi, Fuel additive in, Trickle charger back on the car, dessicant envelopes in the interior, and the cover on it. The car tucked into the front of the garage and the snowblower behind it, prepped the snowblower for the winter too.

Time to start collecting parts for my planned upgrades next year. Thinking 8" headlights (the car had them prior to its importation into the US) and going to a GTS style oil cooler, need to take as much heat out of the radiator as possible.

Just did the same Saturday. Took the 2 hour drive up from Mass to our house in Maine and "tucked" the car in for the winter. Had the same white out condition at about 4:00 PM and drove back thru the snow until we hit the Hampton tolls on 95. Winter is here and no 928 driving til spring....

Tucked in for the winter.... that's one thing I don't miss about living in Michigan.

But you guys have some of the best skiing in the country.

Tucked mine in this morning after a frigid winter drive. It will barely get to 60º today, but will get a bit warmer by mid-week. I'll probably un-tuck it later today, and again tomorrow and the day after and the day after... It was so cold (how cold was it?) that I broke down and snipped the tie-wrap that holds the heater valve closed.

I enjoyed living in the northeast, but I also appreciate being able to drive a decent car year round. I'll be in Pittsburgh in a week for a dose of winter, so I can maintain proper perspective.

Paul you follow a similar procedure as I do when storing cars for the winter. The only thing additional I do is use dryer sheets on each of the tires and underneath the car to hopefully keep rodents away.

I put fuel stabilizer into the tank about 1 month ago thinking I wouldn't be driving it again. Now its down to about 1/3 tank and I was debating if I should fill it again. I think I'll leave it for the new owner since he may still have some time to drive it in VA. I spent some of today getting the GT ready for the new owner which made me sad. I didn't realize how many parts and stuff I've collected for the car over the past few years. I'm wiping it down and will put the trick charger on along with the car cover until its ready to be picked up.

We have been blasted by winter so the 928 has been sleeping for 3 weeks now. Regular prep of full fuel tank with stabilizer, battery out in house and on battery tender, tyres inflated to slightly higher than run levels, new engine oil, dryer sheets under seats, cover on.

Anyone needing winter perspective we had -35c temps + wind chill last week and plenty of snow on the ground........ski season is here

The first snow fell yesterday, officially signalling the time to put my baby in the garage for the winter. Kinda looking forward to it though. I'll have a chance to do some of the detailing and minor fixes that I haven't done because I was having too much fun driving it. Nothing serious needs done. In fact I am constantly amazed by how well everything works on a 22 yr old car.

Did you do anything special to ward off mice?

Here... They don't survive at that temperature.

Mine is in storage too. In an old barn.
There's a long ramp going up to that place... Was icy... Quite icy. Almost slided off the ramp. Happy it didn't happen.

Our barn cat sleeps in the garage (he has a little heated house my son made him) during the winter and the frigid temps all help to control critter activity.

The Browning elk/moose rifle is a little 'overkill'
