Default Testing Procedure for MAF Connector?

I would like to verify whether or not the MAF connector on my 88' S4 is functional. Is there a test procedure for verifying the signal integrity at the connector head?

There is a simple precedure. If you run the engine warm, rev it to well over 3000rpm with the airfilter off, have another person turn off the ignition while you watch in the MAF from the airfilter side, you should see the hotwire performing a burnoff. The wire actually glows for a second or two. If that works, it is very likely that the MAF works.

If you want to take it a step further you need to open the LH or LH-connector and measure the voltage which is proportional to the airflow.

Thanks Theo. Verified the MAF and connector are good. Looks to be a leaky MAF boot that I fixed with a better clamp.
