Yeah, they are tight. I'm 6'4" and the car is really too small for me, but I squeeze in because this was the car that I wanted as a teenager (posters on the wall and all that). I can't wear a helmet without popping the sunroof. The S4s puts out 300HP and the V8s put out an underrated 350HP. They aren't very fast by today's standards, but they look fast (and the wedge shape is classic), LOL.

my daughter has a 2004 mustang gt and though I have rarely gotten to drive it, it does well off the line but runs out of breathe at 90 or so, where as the 86.5 should start moving up around 65 to 70. I am not much of racer though

I agree with the part about not engaging in any meanigful way with an "ex-con, white trash" (your words, not mine). If this is what the guy really is, then why interact? I wouldn't have anything to do with him.
If you have a hard on for a Mustang race, look up the local Mustang Club and invite some of those guys out. I have both, and love each car (my stang is an 06; I've had an 05 and an 07 Shelby GT). They are very different cars, but both alot of fun.

It's not just about how fast you can go. What will happen if you crash? Which car would you rather be in? I used to have these arguments with my muscle car friends all the time. It's not just how fast can you go but how well can you stop, how well can you corner, how well can you survive a wreck. Do a search on Willhoit's wreck in an 80's 928 many decades ago. The car saved his life.

It will be close if you drag from a standing start and he is a good driver. 1999 Mustang GT is 5.5 0-60 and 14.1 in the 1/4 mile. 5 speed 85 - 86 928 rated at 5.9 0-60 and 14.2 in the 1/4 mile. On a roll on the highway, you will beat him handily as the Mustang runs out of breath quickly but they are quick from a standing start if driven right.

Are you sure it was a GT? Is your car modded with an iron lung or something? I find it hard to believe a stock 928 GTS just went right by a brand new Mustang GT. The V6 Stang sure, but not a GT.

The 2010 Mustang is pretty much the same weight as a GTS, but it is 30hp less and 44lb.ft torque less. Even if the Mustang was up in the RPM (which I doubt) it would still be down 10% on power. What most likely happened, the Mustang driver punched it below 4k RPM thinking they had loads of torque and got a rude awakening. If both cars were utilizing all their available power, it would be closer but the GTS would still come out ahead.

edit: Yeah but it was *real* close vvvv

I'm not. 5 speed GTS @ 345 hp and 3593 lbs vs Mustang GT with 315 hp and 3534 lbs. Add the factor that they were at highways speeds where the 928 has superior gearing and there you go! Now a 2011 5.0 Mustang is a totally different story.

edit: Looks like I was was enzo'ed by Dan ^^^^

ahhhh, I also forgot it was the 2011 Mustang that had the huge bump in HP to keep up with the Camero SS and the Challenger. I thought it was the 2010, but you're right, it was 2011.

So just curious how would he hang with me?

It will be fun when his friends show up and want to check out your garage.
