Very true jim,but very to convince the public about that.hell.............for road trips that are at normal interstate speeds I use the octane selector and set it for low octane fuel.really does not run that different at all and may even feel a little snappier at off throttle tip in when pulling away from a stop light.Takes a little edge off of the poor fuel mileage that it gets on road trips to see mom.

THANKS for the list!!!
I'm glad you posted! I've been looking for a list like this.
I'm not as concerned about octane as I am ethanol or other additives our cars were not designed to run on.
WELL DONE!

I have no horse in this race (nor any choice, given California's fuel formulations) but is this going to turn into an engineering discussion about the evils of ethanol in gasoline, or a political one?

I for one hope technical. After spending half a year rebuilding or replacing every single small engine carburetor on our farm, that's a small bunch, which I never ever had to do before, and talking with small shop/large shop owners, all who say gasoline/ethanol blend is the culprit (and even some of the owner's manuals make the same claim), I would really be interested in a discussion on this list about this.
