Having just completed another very wet rally , I don't want to do another one with poor visibility !!. Can anyone (pref UK based) point me in the direction of one for sale ??
(car has no heater or fan fitted ... nor do I want the weight / complexity ... anyway the battery now lives where the blower used to be !!)
As far as I know...no 928 ever came with a heated FRONT screen..the only thing I can think of that might help is one of those "stick on the dash with a suction pad" fan blowers (round fans like in a house)
If yours is a rally car (as in stages etc) I am sure everyone here would love to see some pictures of it
As Brett said Heated front windscreens for a 928 are not available.
My impressions of rallying in the UK are wet and muddy (thinking back to long nights chasing the RAC rally around the NE in the latter days of Mk2 escorts and early days of Audi Quattros) I would have though a small heater and fan from a mini with some simple ducting would be a very simple and lightweight addition.
Brett - pictures and video link previously posted - may try again , but don't want to bore people.
A batch of 4 screens were made some years back (don't know exactly by who) , so am trying to track even one of them down !
I have one of those stick on foil strip type heaters, designed for the rear window of older cars, don't even notice it is there. A mate has a 12volt travelers hair dryer mounted on the dash.
or you could have a look at www.frostfighters.com they have several options, maybe one could suit you.
Heated front screen supplier now found ............ but there is a catch.........
Needs an order of 10 ......... cost is US terms , just under $400 ....... so are there nine other customers out there ??????????? (8 would do , I'm happy to take two !!!)

Hi
Wow I am amazed you found anyone who will make them although that sounds MUCH too cheap as the standard screen from someone like Autoglass is well over £1000 in the UK... are you sure they know its for a 928 lol ?

All the best Brett
Brett,
The screen is not £1000 from Autoglass... more like £700 odd notes... don't you have a high speed run to do?
http://www.plastics4performance.co.uk do a heated glass windscreen for the 928. last time i spoke to them the cost was around £600 + VAT for one and there was no minimum order requirement...
Hmm ... 600 pounds sounds expensive ... compared to the 165 that I have been quoted .......... still need to find other customers , but if the prices above are correct for std screen , then it would be much cheaper to fit heated !!!!
(sounds like someone has their sums wrong ! ??)

It is not cheap I know... Another thing I noticed with them - did a rally school day in mid-Wales with Phil Price and the RS1600 that I was given had a heated front windscreen. it was pouring down with rain and the heated windscreen was as useful as a chocolate teapot... Maybe you want a hybrid system - a small heater element and the heated screen.
£165 - if you can really get them at that price, I will be in, and I am sure a few other will join...
