Default EXHAUST STUD NUT ALTERNATIVES

Is there anything special about the nuts that are used on the exhaust manifold to block studs? I need some new ones and they are over $4.00 each (NEED 20) through the suppliers. I just want to buy some the same size at Ace if possible. Gunar

Get the real ones, the ones from Ace will corrode badly.

It looks like the real ones corrode badly also but they are almost 30 years old.

This is probably the ideal application for the special yellow
metal manifold nuts discussed in a recent post.

Buy the cheap ones and coat the studs in anti-seize.

I haven't read the thread that Brian mentioned but I intend to try the 911 exhaust manifold nuts. They are copper coated m6 x 1.25 and use a 12 mm wrench (reduced head). I got them from Pelican for like $10 for a set of 20. They tarnish right away but so far on my 911 haven't rusted (only been 6 months).

There was also some interest over in the 944 world a few years ago about using a GM exhaust stud. I'm not as convinced on that but it has tip kinda like a torx shaped driver on the end to help with install and removal. At least a few people liked them.

Just some ideas...Bruce

We sell the correct ones (OEM) for $1 each if that helps.
