Default Radiator gauges?

Snooping around I've found a couple of gauges that can go on the radiator, and in the case of the stick on's anyplace. I was also wondering a bit about modifying the return line with a T and putting some kind of temperature gauge there.

Stick ons.

I've got the Thermo cap on my El Camino. Been there 4 years, with no problems, temp on the radiator is around 20 degrees cooler than the gauge temp in on the dash. Sender is in the thermostat housing, so I think it's fairly accurate.

Where would you put the stick-ons so that you could see it and get a good reading? Wrap it around the upper rad hose?

The Thermo cap is a good idea but I don't think it would work for the 928's since the cap is so far away from the circulating water in the cooling system the reading wouldn't be accurate, would it? Next time, I'll hit the cap with my IR temperature gun and see what I get.

Interesting stuff.

Stickers come in a set of two, I was thinking of sticking one on each side of the top of the radiator to get an idea of the in/out difference. I think the stickers could also be cut into sections, so I could put a single marker in a smaller space, such as a 160 ish at the tank inlet to show when the thermostat is open. I'm buying some right now to start playing with.

Thermocap I need to look at a bit more, its actually a product of a small Perris Calif company, http://www.thermocap.us . I think even without touching the coolant, that the probe from the cap may track the temp pretty well. I'm going to buy one for my Mustang first, look it over and then decide on getting more of them.
