What Spark Plug socket for a 928 S4?
I tried to do a compression test on a 928 S4 today and it seems like non of my plug sockets fit.
I tried:
18mm
21mm
5/16"
13/16"
The 21mm and 13/16" are too big and dont fit in the hole and the other 2 seem too small. Even the socket in the original tool kit doesent work because it doesent fit in the hole.
Im confused........ lol.

Plugs are standard 14mm thread, 3/4" reach and extended tip, with 13/16" hex. The tubes around the plug wells need a thinwall plug socket or they won't go in. That deep black impact socket? Won't go.
Several years ago (OK, more than several...) I bought a nice 13/16" plug socket with a captive 12" extension, 3/8" drive. Perfect for the 928, since it pilots perfectly in the tube, and you can't leave the socket in the bottom with the pinned extension. They don't show them in the catalog any more, unfortunately. They are the perfect solution for us few that NEVER plan to use the toolkit plug wrench. Plus you can use the torque wrench on mine.

If you take a pair of long needlenose pliers, the kind with with about a 30 degree radius in the jaws, they work perfectly for leveraging the plug wires free from the plugs. Smooth, no damage, gives just that little bit extra force in the right direction.

I went nuts and bought a pair of Blue Point boot pliers off Ebay a few years back, I think they were about $10 with shipping:

The pliers I actually use are the ones that Brad has in the picture above. The fancy $$ Beru pliers are still enshrined in the original bag. The simple ones work better than the Beru pliers possibly could.
