Not mine either, Greg. I believe there are tons of really really ridiculously good-looking (Zoolander) 928 that don't cross ebay and are tucked away nicely, being enjoyed and furthered. These are the creme-of-the-crop.

OOooooo, Chris, you just added at least 3 more pages to this thread.

I have heard if it being done by folks that did not want all the electronics of a GTS but needed or liked the looks of the GTS quarters.

I think I found a picture of one that has been done.

That actually looks tasteful in my opinion partially due to the fact that there is no GTS badging.

Anybody we know around here? I guess the market prices for really nice S4s is not *that* soft after all. I almost put in a bid, but I am squeamish about ebay purchasing and I am still waiting for my insurance settlement from that fire that burned up my first S4.
Further away from you but the 87 red s4 looks nice 50k miles

If it just had the early front end it would be perfect IMHO.
But even i am not that crazy, but I may delete the door handles, locks and sun roof.

Doing the rear quarters is not just unbolting parts.

When I was lookin around there was a red/tan 5 speed s4 for 11k on craigs list in orange county. It had new dash, seats and many other parts. The guy said all the maintenance had been done and it sounded nice. Never saw the car in person though so who knows. It was for sale for months, not sure if it ever sold.

Sounds high for one that's starting to need parts injections.

What is amazing is how many people will try to lowball you when you ask top dollar for a nice example. I can't count how many times I've heard "but there's another GT or S4 with 50K miles selling for $18K which looks really good in the pictures. I know some have gone forward with buying the lower priced cars and then emailed me saying the car needs at least $6K worth of work. Hmmm

Here's a shot of a nice GT for sale for $34,500 if anyone wants a really nice example.

If the mechanical is maintained as well as the cosmetics, then that car seems to be in a far different class than most. If not, you'll own it a long time.

Mechanicals have to be maintained every bit as good as the cosmetics, otherwise what is the point?

Exactly (plus mirrors) should have been that way all 17 years and with the right power might still be here (one of my favorites - this S2 has had the rear flares I believe)

As to the S4 in question, why put a new bumper on an undamaged car?

And to RR, your noobiness is showing.

Right and then it should be driven for fun and IMO there is no better all-around car on the road under 300K.

Have you ever thought of swapping some new silver wheels like the new design chuck has at least for selling pics purposes. IMO Those wheels scream 80's. (and I know they are unique.........) just trying to help

That was the point.

The cosmetics are often smoke and mirrors in the sport of car selling.

(Thanks, btw, for the heat soaked coil wire advice. I read all your posts.)
