So I've acquired a new old 928!! :)
So if anyone remembers the thread I posted up about whether or not I should pay and buy this Porsche from a friend of the families who was passing away? Ya'll all advised me to run but, it's been willed and everyone's eye is on me to take care of the car - so now I've got one!! My very own 1 owner Euro 79 928 with a stick shift. In very very bad shape. Going to head out to the ranch, pick up the flatbed and drive down to San Antonio to get it - I'll update this thread with pics when I've got it in the driveway.
Suggestions of first things to check?
I'll be flushing everything completely several times of course.

Jim, you're such the glass half full kind of guy
Pjburges,
Congratulations! It sounds like you've taken on more than a car, more like a moral obligation. If you're willing to make this a long term project, and enjoy working on cars, it probably won't be too bad. If you want to get it back on the road in a month or to sell it, well that could be a challenge. Either way, good luck!!

Nah - I get a good kick out of working on Porsches - my 944 has been down for the better part of a year while I've been rebuilding the engine. Pressure is on though - to finish the 16valve 944 motor and get it back in the car - and get the 928 at least running so the neighborhood association can't gripe about all the Porsches in the driveway haha!

PJ,
Get hold of Jim...the HOA terror...LOL! You and he can commiserate together! Jim lives just down the street from me on Parmer Lane. We have a great 928 group here in town and there are more than a few folks here with EXTENSIVE knowledge of 928's! TPWS is an AWESOME shop to use if you actually need pro work done (you probably already know Matt and Frannie and Daniel and Chris...they own and drive 928's and 944's DAILY!)
If you want to be depressed you can come over and see my collection...LOL!

brave man. about the Texas DPS.... they used to run these cars.... several dozen thousand of them....
with 1 billion dollahh government motors engines in them called the "LS-1." there might be a few cores lying around.
could end up costing less than a straight up restoration.

The other nice thing about being in Austin is Roger will send you a part in the mail and it usually gets here the next day!
And if you feel like taking a road trip, Sean is just four hours up the road and will figure out what's going on with your (fill in the blank)
