If you're doing a red photoshoot you have to find an Arena Red 928 also!

Barney is a great color too but I don't remember it being that red?

Recorded on a Zoom H4n, using internal cardioid mics, no compression.

Headphones will give the best sense of what it really sounds like!

Low revs:

Moderate revs, 2 cycles:

Higher revs, not sure what he maxed out at, probably not more than 6000-6200 if I had to guess. Maybe Greg knows from the sound.

This is Mark's race car, it tiptoes around town in an enclosed trailer.

It's hilarious to watch him drive it around the parking lot though. The clutch is, uh, binary.

The recordings are ok, though they're kind of like watching a shuttle launch thru your home theater. No substitute for the real thing.

I think barney changes color depending on the light.....I remember it being a dark fine metallic wine red color...

As for arena red... I don't think it was ever painted by the factory...but one of our own (Chris F) repainted his 87S4 in arena red and it looks great...

I just remembered why I am so tired today. I was up half the night with two thoughts, how beautiful Dan's car is, and how freaked out I was by the image of his eye being out of his head.

This is Jarrod on Sean's computer -

That would be great. Also, I forgot to include George (?) who is bringing his Coral Red GT. We're going to have quite the lineup!

A bit late, but here's a video clip from the Sunday drive, Thomas (supercedar) driving and Laura filming, following Sue up Glendora Ridge.

Thank you Jim,
The start of the video I am heard saying the guy behind me can't keep up when I take off. This was the end of a conversation with my daughter about why I wouldn't stay closer to Sue and Jim. I was telling here that with these cars a one second jump can create a large lead when coming out of the corners. I meant no disrepect to my following companions.

White is faster though!:

I have no idea how one goes about renting out the airfield but the Zone 8 PCA does their events there, I should talk to Steve Eguina and see what the logistics entail. The devil's in the details on track setup, timing equipment, liability, etc, but if you could get 30-40 people willing to pay the going rate for an Auto-X it might be a possibility.
Just got back from the first day of the Santa Barbara Concours d'Elegance. Jim Hall Karting was there as a sponsor, his track is in Oxnard. That's a bit far from Anaheim but it would be "on the way" for a lot of people coming from the north. His normal deal is for a group, $225 per session including an hour of instruction. Kind of pricey, but he's just added an option for just "track time" at $25 per session, no instruction, good for about 14 laps. Now, there are differences; the track time kart is different than the regular session cart. The regular session cart is a 20hp 14.5k RPM 2 stroke that will go about 60mph, and track time kart is a 10hp 7k RPM 4 stroke that'll only go about 45mph. The 2 stroke is very peaky and the 4 stroke has a lot more torque. He says the track time cart is for people who just want to go out and have fun, the other one is for hard core karting. But that's an enormous difference in price, and I just want to have fun

If Oxnard is too far, maybe one of the Orange County tracks has a similar option.

Around SoCal I think K1 electric carts may be the only option.

It would be a blast if we could all meet at the drag strip next year for some more fun. Then I might start looking for a black one if white fails me.

Take care!
Thomas
