Default GTS Making me a better driver

Guess I've always been a crappy driver who rode the clutch too much. The more I drive the GTS the more I see it likes precise shifts with a quick clutch release. Getting smoother all the time. Not only does the car make me look better, but it's making me a better driver also. Granted I sucked to begin with so there's nowhere to go but up for me, but anybody else feel like their 928 is making them a better driver? Cheers! Ken

I started with a Spitfire so you either were a good driver with that car or you DIED SHORTLY after getting it...so my 928's have not made me a "better" driver, but they sure have made me a faster one! BTW, you better be glad that car is a 5spd (thus I can't drive it) or I would have stolen it right out of your driveway! I LOVE IT!!!! Then I'd get an '86 S also in that color and have a hell of a nice pair of Hellbronze metallic 928's! If you have not considered doing that you might...'85's and '86's were built is huge numbers in that color and decent ones can be had (if you look carefully for a diamond in the rough) cheap! One that is already REALLY nice could set you back $6k to over $10k (think REALLY NICE 86.5) but man how cool would that be?!?!

I don't know if it's making me a better driver. But, the more I drive my 85 it makes me a better "928 driver". I still pretty much suck at it though..

You have a beautiful GTS

It would be cool to have two the same color, but the wife would kill me. Course if I bought it before she had a chance to say no......

I found the shifter travel plus the quick fall of rpms makes me a more precise shifter.

Yesterday my GTS made me a better driver by disabling both the ABS AND Differential Controller. Had to be more precise braking and a LOT more judicial with the throttle in the turns.

I have always believed that "throttle modulation" is overrated! IMHO of course.

Yes, awesome car and photo.

I learned to drive pretty well in my 944 5-speed over the past decade or so; now with my new *automatic* S4, I hope to forget all that kids' stuff with the left foot. I'm 40 now, time to start driving like an old fart. A much faster old fart.

I can't say it's made me a better driver but it certainly has made me more conscious of other drivers.

I also have learned that this car really shines when driven smoothly (IE no abrupt acceleration and fast lane changes). It's like a freight train. Not only does it have immense power but it also handles like its on rails.

Driving my '85 5-speed has certainly made me more aware. Better driver, I dunno.

After driving automatics for a long long time, I didn't realize how lazy I was. Things happen so much faster in this car, I found it difficult to keep up. Clutching, shifting, signaling, keeping track of what gear I'm in. It took me a month to feel comfortable driving it, and many more to master driving it quickly. And, as I've made it faster and faster with more power, and lighter weight, I have had to become more and more focused.

Speaking Ken to Ken , I recommend a clutch stop for your GTS. There is a lot of extra pedal travel with the single disk clutch. I put one in Keith's '93, and he really likes it.

Thanks Ken, I wasn't aware of the clutch stop option, I will add it to my list of possible future upgrades.

Yeah, Ken's trying to figure out how to make a 5-speed into an 'semi-automatic' or something.

He's got a clutch stop and a switch-activated rev-limiter for the clutch pedal. I just think he's still having trouble figuring out how to drive a 5-speed.

Holy crap that's a beautiful GTS... I love the color.

Not sure if I've seen that shade before.
