Ya..those are the guys I asked to check my end-play before I bought my car.

I had some really low..very outta range reading I got from them.

Then I pulled the plate myself...no tool ever touched the bolt clamping the shaft....havent talked to them yet about that..cuz I see a "he said, you said" coming out of it.

I had 2.45mm of flex in the plate when I losened it myself, no way that came into the system in only 150 miles after I bought the car. Total end play is well within spec I discovered..between the actual min/max numbers...not miles below the min as before.

Then they told me "be careful when you shave the heads..theres issues in there when you pull the cam covers.." on the way out the door.

Cam covers are off, zero issues found or measured...so I dunno. Just didnt sit right.

But..they are nice guys..I guess they could have misunderstood what I was asking for..but I was pretty clear, and dunno how a knowledgeable shop would need hand holding to measure this.

Seriously, I don't know why you are so hung up with my screen name and continue to make an issue. My screen name has been used on several car forums and this is my first screen name since I joined NSXPRIME back in 2003. I did not tell you that "Formula 1" has nothing to do with 928 nor did I had any concern about your 944 being an avatar.
I have seen many people here with avatars of airplanes, half naked women, Ferraris, Aston Martin, and whatever that float their boats. Many have screen names that have nothing to do with 928. I don't have a problem with any of these nor did I see anyone having a fit either.

Thanks, Ed.
Of course I am not going to change the avatar. What made this guy think he could go around and bully me to change my avatar is totally beyond me. Does anyone on here even condone such out of line demand?
Anyway, nice barn, or was it a log cabin?

Apparently, the coil, cap, and plug wires were bad. The timing belt was loose and it was tighten. The fuel pump is making a lot of noise now so I will get it replaced. Thanks for all the recommendations on the forum. Special thanks to Bill Ball who generously offered to drive all the way down to South San Francisco to check out the car for me. Great bunch of people here.
Steve
GREAT NEWS!!!!! I love hearing about relatively easy fixes!!!!

Bill Ball is also the BEST......always willing to help out!!!!

Definitely don't condone that here. Not sure why that guy has a bug up his a$$ about it either.
The cabin is one of those old, abandoned places you find out on the dusty trail around here. It was just a typical Montana scene, which I love, so that's why I took the pic.
Back on topic, glad the fix wasn't a big deal on your car.

This does not ring any particular bells. Not sure what happened. Funny smell and smoke makes me think electrical short. Ticking makes me usually think of lifters. I can't put it together. Maybe this is an odd form of LH failure and the injectors were going haywire, but usually the car just won't run in that case.

If the smoke and noise had come from the front I would think water pump seizure.
Well since you are helping me with mine, I will help you with his if you are going that way
