The 928 chassis is very rigid.....however, I would be pretty careful turning it about with the engine. transmission, master cylinder, gas tank, various other tanks in the car, and other like stuff still in the car. There are obvious liquid issues and I would personally be a bit concerned about flexing the body enough to possibly crack the windshield with the engine in the car....engine out? I would not expect a problem with the engine out, tires off, liquids removed etc. I had a friend that inverted a 356 with the 6 volt acid filled battery in the car, as well as the master cylinder full of fluid. Quite a nasty mess and more costly to correct than one might expect. I do believe some adult beverages may have played a part.....

IIRC, Dan Brindle at:

used to have pix and text about his rotisserie, but I can't find 'em now.
And there's this:

So has anyone built a lift bar that runs left to right between the two front crush points so you could lift the fron end simultaniously as you can the rear end leaving the jack poinbts open to place jack stands?

Here is a picture of Dan's tilter.

And a couple of smaller pictures of his Gold 85 on the tilter. Check the exhaust system.

I don't think there is enough height available to get both a lift bar and a jack under there at normal ride height. Hence you would need to raise the front of the car first somehow.

By crush points do you mean the tie down plates that mount under the lower A arm front mounting point ?

I have the car on jacks now so can't measeure clearance. Was hoping I could have a metal bar built to run from bash point to bash point and then jack it up from the middle at the same time.

Hi Will!
Thanks for the link. The engine, suspension, hatch, hood and interior is all out so basically it is only the shell plus doors. So Dan's contraption won't work which leaves the "regular" rotisserie. Trying to find a place that might rent these things out but that's probably a long shot
tmpusfugit: I agree with you, too much strain with transmission and engine in it. I think most rotisseries have a 3,000 lb limit, so just the shell should work fine.
Cheers!
