Default SOB repaint for Duc

Well after a month of waiting for my paint guy to finish, i got her back! i sent the car to him taken apart (doors, hatch, fenders, quarter-side trim and windows still on car) but everything else was off.

it has some spots from dust when he cleared but for a few hundred bucks i cant complain that much. the paint and clear cost more then the work!

i still have some cleaning to do, and window trim to repaint. but i will do all that when this paint is cured more.

That looks great! Killer price too.

Did you supply the base coat paint also? What type of clearcoat did you use?

Wow, that looks awesome! How in the hell did you get that kind of deal? Did you prime and prep everything yourself? No orange peel either... did you wet sand between coats?

Very nice - here's my budget mod suggestion of the day... 1) get a black sharpie and blacken-out the orange lip of the air filter.

PS... how many sq feet of sound deadener did you use?...Bruce

I think i used about 60sqf, the stuff i used is called Fatmat. works well. The guy that painted it works at the on-base Auto hobby shop, teaching classes on paint etc. He is using my car as advertisement. all i did was strip it down, he primed, wet sanded, primed, wet sanded, 4 coats of base, 3 clear. he did not sand between coats of clear. how he did it, i do know know. i do have a few spots where dust got on it, but that can be cut/buffed out at a later date. If i even want to spend the money on it now. i just got the hood on, but i do have another hood he is doing this week and will have done by friday. that one has a nice vent in it.

Wow... very nice. Amazing what some good materials and an experienced hand can turn out. I've started painting my 84 the last couple weekends. It was so bad nothing I did would make it worse... so I've got a coat a color on it. Figure I'll follow that formula, a few color coats, a few clear coats. Your beast looks stunning, something to shoot for.

btw... I grew up in Albuquerque, born in Ft. Sumner, mom worked at Kirtland for years, neighbor was the proverbial atomic rocket scientist and worked at the labs, dad was AF driving connies and doing nuke stuff. Great town, great food, man I miss the desert. Still have a bunch of family down there. Love to visit in a 928, run up to Taos, or Colorado, you know... for lunch.

Great looking beast. Congrats on the paint.

Wow She looks awesome!

Beautiful car! Now it is time to take her for a long ride and cure the paint by doing 100mph down the highway!
