If it makes you feel better: I have a job and still could not have afforded Kermit.

Back to the original topic, please!

I couldn't live with that green color. Would have painted it.

Default Taking delivery today

LOL Makes me glad the car is WAY far away from Chris.
I can imagine him on the phone... "Jim, I've got a can of Guards Red... I'm gonna do it! Rattle Rattle Rattle...
I'd jump in my S4 and go bust up the paint party...

Nicole,
Great scan, thank you! This white car looks a bit better sorted than the earlier one w/the black door handles (what were they thinking?)

I think S-CX 2135 may have been the companion car at the Geneva show. Was in the Brian Long book this is mentioned.

FWIW, Number Six is on an Intercity truck heading for Michigan as I type. Should be at the Doerr Farm tomorrow (oops, today)!!!!
Photographers will be on the scene. No not really, just asked my brother and sister to take lots of pics for me.

What troubles me is that all the magazines that show S-CX 2137 show black seats with plaid style cloth in the center. However, there is one b/w picture that shows an interior with folded down rear seats, pasha door inserts, and you can see a bit of the plaid in the front seats peeking out... I have a feeling this car might have run with a temporary interior for a while.

Default Down on the Farm...

Just wanted to let everyone know Number Six made it to it's new home.
I'm very happy and relieved. Both the purchase and transportation were tenuous and rather stressful.
I can take a deep breath now. This thread over the past few weeks has really helped keep my mind off things.
Thanks everyone for your kind words and support.

I hope to keep this thread interesting to the best I can.
I've updated my "master restoration" post 3, to give you all an idea of what's up next for Number Six.
As always, advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

2 random questions: What does the gas cap look like, and how bad are the tranny mounts? Mark A had a curious all-metal gas cap that he said was for early cars (though PET lists the same P/N for 78-95) , and the G28.03 that Greg dismantled for the tech session at SF10 was a very early trannny (still had the studs on the rear cover for the battery box mount) and had the -13 tranny mounts of asymmetric thickness that looked to be in good shape. Not sure whether the mounts are still available new but they exist used in Anaheim if yours are toast.

Looks like the IH has a new little brother to look after.

Rob,
I think the gas cap is MIA. Whether it has a metal gas cap or not is something I plan to research.
Curious about your question about tranny mounts. It is safe to say the car will get new tranny mounts. Does PET list something different for early?
I read about Greg's -03 rebuild. Curious if anyone got the serial number off it?

For those who have specific questions, I will do my best to respond to them in time. My nephew lives right down the road and is a budding "car guy". He's thrilled about this car. And ask him from time to time to do some research.

Great to hear it made the journey safely, and has already found an equal-colored stable mate.

Outstanding Jim - now like fine wine, let it age as you carefully put it back to original - no rush!
