Paint chip removal systems
Has any body tried/experience with this product line http://www.drcolorchip.com/how-it-works.php (no affiliation) I'm trying to determine what is the best system to use

Hi Herman,
No personal experience with it but I've heard that it works fairly well on solid colors like your red, but not so good on metalic colors. I Think Andrew Olson used it on his guards red GT. Maybe he'll chime in here.

I was curious about this too. I'd like to hear some real world feedback and pictures. I tried one of those scratch erase "pens" on a lease return and it was perfect for a lease return to avoid a penalty, but I would not use on a car I "owned".

Herman - As you know, I've used Langka with reasonably good results. It would be better if my paint wasn't metallic as the flakes settle in the repair. With metallics, it's best if you build the chip repair up with multiple thin coats to minimize the effects of the flakes settling.
That said, I saw the Dr. Colorchip advertised on TV the other day and it looks easier than Langka. I suspect I'd have the same issue with the metallic paint, but I may have to buy some and give it a shot on my front cap anyway.

I've used Dr Color Chip on my non-metallic red mustang, and it looks pretty good from a few feet - better than the chips, and better than I thought it would. I also bought the kit for Bluemax, which is a metallic color, but haven't tried it yet. I'll try the lowest spots first and see how it looks, but not unitil spring - car is put away now for the season.

I used Dr. Color on mine. Turned out pretty good . . . as Ed said, better than the chips! It really worked well on a few areas around the edges of the doors where the paint had rubbed off.

I have used Drcolorchip to good effect only on solid color cars. On metallic paint it works about as well as the others.

I have it for my Saab (silver), and it turns out darker than the original color. They had warned me that it doesn't look perfectly on light metallics.
I think it could make a big difference on darker metallic cars. But as Kevin points out, it will never be perfect; if you want a perfect, glossy finish, this is not going to do it.
