Check these: Grey rear blinkers
I think these look very, very cool. How can you mod the blinkers/rear lamps to look like this? Are they painted?

It looks like they are just painted. I used candy apple enamel on mine, now over 3 years old and they still look perfect.

Try window tint film, after you polish off all the raised bits on the face. That way you can easily undo the change after you get a ticket for them.

Window tinting film works somewhat well, but only lasts for about a year or so. Mine is in desperate need of replacement, but I'll probably try painting the amber areas red before I redo it.
The trouble is that with each layer of color, the lights become harder to see.

Thanks guys.
That's a fantastic mod. I really like the smoked rear lights. The apple red ain't bad, either... very 968-like.
PS Jim: Can you buy that rear reflector (aftermarket) for S4 anymore? Jager doesn't carry them any more. and the GTS reflector won't fit (obviously).

Somebody call the "Amber Lamps"!! ja ja ja
So what are the legal ramifications of changing DOT required safety equipment? Would this moddification result in long chats with LEO's?

Has anyone painted the inside of the lens and not the exterior?
I realize perhaps that the lens itself would have to be separated from the rear housing, but that would leave you with a factory looking and feeling exterior but would still net you a red colored turn lens.

LEO no likey if no red is showing... laws vary by state but I believe all require at least some red showing (not red light, but red plastic or reflector). Spray can clearly states intended for off road use only. It's a little more obvious than running without cats. Covering the amber part shouldn’t be a problem.
