I bought an AR15 and converted it to full auto and attached a 3 point sling. I have my flack jackett strapped with extra magizines total of over 180 rounds on me. just kidding. I will probably keep my kabar on me either under the seat, in a pack or the glove compartment. I will take a look at different routes today. I plan on leaving Friday or saturday. Some time I get paranoid while driving if I don't hear how the car sounds. I have amsoil in my car so that makes my internals invinsible Lol...

When John Phillips of Car and Driver had finished restoring his 1970 Jaguar E type, he decided to take it on a roadtrip to which his wife replied (paraphrasing), "are you nuts, how many spare parts are you going to bring?". He replied, "nothing. The car will know what I brought and break something else". Their roadtrip went off without a hitch. Dr. Bob pretty much covers the list.
When I had it, I drove my S4 across country three times. Only broke once and it was a relay.

Long trips no problems with road noise - industrial deafness has its upside.
Lot of good suggestions on what to take, nothing further to add except just do it and enjoy the trip, however cruise control working is a must.
