94 GTS Particle Filter
Wondering if anyone has experience accessing/changing the particle filter (PN 928 572 479 00)? I noticed small specks of whitish "dust" on the interior when running the A/C. After speaking with a few of the big parts suppliers they indicated that this model does have a cabin air filter, and they are rarely changed. In fact neither one of the guys I spoke to had any experience with changing one. When I asked how to access the filter one told me to go under the hood and remove the cowl panel cover and go at it that way. The other told me the filter was located behind the glove compartment in the passenger footwell area.
A second part to this question concerns the rear A/C. Isn't the blower/ducting totally separate from the front unit? Does the rear unit have a filter also?
I would appreciate any and all help with this one.
Thanks, Dave

I just did this on mine.
It's pretty easy - remove the cowl - carefully, since it's a flimsy plastic, likely brittle after 16 years, and you'll find the air box. On there, there will be two torx screws holding the filter down. Remove them, pull out filter, and replace.
I used a shop vac to vacuum out some dust/debris since my filter looked overdue for replacement.
Installation is the reverse of removal. Maybe 30 minutes.

1st 19 US model '94 did not have it as they were actually build in spring '93 and are from technic point of view '93 MY cars. All ROW '94 MY have it.

What Erkka said:
No '93's have this - and not all "'94's" do either.
Very few get changes regularly - most owners didn't seem to know they had one....

Well I would characterize more it as Erkka did - it changed over early in the '94 model year - in fact the only cars it doesn't apply to are the "S program VIN change '94 cars".
This was 19 cars out of ~470 worldwide classified by Porsche as '94 model year that didn't have it = pretty early...

AC filter pictures
These are the pictures of my AC pollen filter access door. I've seen many discussion about people wanting to add a filter it's my opinion that this not that hard to do by cutting the access slot just like you see in the pictures and fabricate a lower catch for the filter an oversize lid can be fabricated from any rigid plastic material with a thin wheather strip attached to it. The "S" bracket in the back can be riveted to the housing so the new access lid will slide under it.
