Default Tail lights filling with water?

My tail lights have been filing with water and blowing bulbs so I decided to investigate. The housing above the stoplight section of the bulb was cracked from who knows how much cumulative heat over the years. I filled in the cracks with silicone caulk. There is a vent hole in the lens so I left that open to let condensation out.

If you are getting water in your tail lights, check above the stop lamp. I bet it is cracked.

Yep common issue. They delaminate and allow water to collect in there. I drilled very small drain holes in the bottom and they eventually cleared up.

I'd also drill some drain holes in the bumper, under the lights so the water drains out of there too.

+1 on the drain holes in the bumper shell cavities. And put some thin weatherstrip around the lamp housing where it fits into the body. Keeps a lot of water out of there to begin with.

The work shop manuals actually spell out where to put the drain holes.
