Default 5 spd gear selector input shaft travel?

Hi all does anyone know the travel of the gear selector shaft on a 5 speed tranny for a shift between a for and aft gear? say between 1st and 2nd. I am guessing it is around 3/4" - 1". I am talking about the actually travel of the shaft that goes into the tranny not the gear selecter in the cockpit.

Thanks

Sam
