CWS "reset" button
Hi,
Yesterday I had a "Tail Lamp" warning with the consequent "!" signal in the dash but no light in the reset button in the center console.
When I pressed the reset button nothing happens and both lights in the dash stay on.
One of the bulbs was "dead" and after replacing both the tail lamps (just to be sure) naturally the dash warnings disappear.
I have two questions about the reset button;
1 - I don't remember if it is supposed to light up when the key is turned to position 1, with all the other warning lights, and go out as the car is started or if it only appears when there is a warning in the dash.
2 - the seat belt warning light is working, so maybe it's not a "dead" module but what could it be that stopped working, both the light and function of the reset switch?
TIA for your help on this.
Regards

Anyway is the reset button supposed to light up with all the other lights with ignition key in position 1? Or only when there is a warning?
Thanks.

when you return the key to the run position after it was cranked and the engine running,
the CWS light will stay on for a few seconds while the seatbelt warning cycles to off then the CWS light will go off. If any other warning appears on the pod lights then the CWS will also illuminate. So since the switch isnt cancelling the warning nor lighting up it would be wise to check the connectors first.
Installing a radio or any other working on the center console could have disconnected the wire harness,
or it could have caused one of the wires connected to the back of the panel to have come unsoldered/disconnected

Thanks again Mrmerlin!
Probably that’s exactly what happens. I had my radio replaced (a PO Sony by an almost original Blaupunkt) and last time I remember I used the reset button because of a tail light warning it was working and it was before the radio replacement.
I’m going to remove the radio and both side console covers (I need a little glue on those carpets anyway) find those plugs and wires and see if I find the problem, hopefully without having to remove the CWS module!
Thanks
