Either there is air trapped in the system or the pump is faulty (putting out more than pulling in). For trapped air put the car on jack stands or on a lift, start the car, swing the wheel side to side slowly (not too much pressure on the end stops) a few times. Then check the level and fill up if needed. Repeat a few times and see if it still overflows. If the pump is faulty, I don't know (other than to replace the pump ).

I should say it was squirting while it makes noise during a turn. What next a rebuild or what?

Brian, did you loosen any of the bolts on the front of the pump by mistake when removing the belt? Doing so can let air past the main seal resulting in frothy p/s fluid, and horrible sounds from the pump when you turn the wheel.

If you do need to rebuild, it's pretty simple - roger sells a rebuild kit.

Ask me how I know.

The PO said it had a slight leak...after I had it a few weeks it made a little noise on a turn so I checked it and added a little Power Steering Fluid(ooops). It has been fine though since. Until today Mark Robinson and I put a new front shifter coupler on and also changed the PS belt which he said was very loose. Once we put the belt on is when the problems occured. I told him about me putting in a little PS fluid instead of Dexron III and he said that it wasn't that big a deal since it was a small amount.
What next?

Refill it, and stand by the front of the car while your wife or someone turns the wheel with the pump running to pressurise the system. You need to find the leak.

A common place for a leak is from inside the protective sheath on the return line from the rack to the PS fluid cooling loop inlet, under the pump (loops up by the driver's side head)

When I rebuilt my pump, someone sent me a link to a rebuild they did of their pump...I'll see if I can find it and forward - it was good to understand the internals of the pump and might help with troubleshooting. FYI, there seem to be two pump styles on the 928, i dont know what year they transitioned, but the WSM has the older one profiled.

I'm over in Houston. I think the best thing is for me to come over to Austin, take the car off your hands and then you won't have to worry about the leak...
