Karsten that is karput! A bore job is the one option and so is a nicasil bore treatment. Can you get nicasil done easily in Germany? That way you could reuse the existing pistons, I would coat the skirts if you did this. I am not sure how good gas is with Nicasil? I now it hates sulfer. Do you know?

Greg,
Ja,die Bohrung ist kaputt!
I don´t know if nikasil is a solution or if a specialised engine builder here has this service.
I think about it but think a piston in the next size is the easiest way to solve the problem.
Who is the nice child in your avatar picture ?

Yes that cylinder is toast. Rebore would be required. I would keep all the internal components and use the block as a coffee table!

I don't know if its a bad idea or not, but I've always seen stored engines filled with heavy oil. Idea is to prevent corrosion I believe.

I have no real clue about storage. All I know is old coolant and old oil went acidic.
So ,it seems better to storage the engine dry.
Greg Brown opened a few old engines for the car from his son and explored corroded heads and so on.

I have a TBF block also.I think my better half isn´t so pleased about this idea.
She has no complaints about my 928 hobby but parts in the house and not in the barn are a no go.

I washed a Buick engine block in the upstairs master bathroom tub once.
Might have gotten away with it, if it weren't for a tiny dot of motor oil on the white carpet in the hallway.
Busted.

I don't know. Its taken more effort negotiating at home for "space" working on them, than buying them to begin with. The ultimate answer in my case was providing her with an 86 auto and her enjoying 2010 SITM and PCA breakfast. All resistance has evaporated.

Hmmm,
my wife has a Audi A 6 Quattro S-Line 3.0 TDI hatchback pampers bomber with 232 diesel hp and say steering a 928 is hard work and the 5 speed S 3 is her to rough.
She loves the A 6 and the rauchquarz 84 S 2 aut.

But the A 6 is a really fast car with consumption of 9.5 l diesel/100 km hard driven !!

We've got other stuff to drive, but it was all about her getting enthusiastic about the 928

My wife like the power of the 928 but don´t like the shape. She likes cars like her old audi tt.A little bit round and beatle like?
Here in Germany are trucks very rare. Most people have a hatchback.
She likes fast cars but a real love isn´t it.
