Default New to forum and looking at 928s in MA

Gentlemen,

I've been looking for a decent 928S 1983-86 in the New England area. I've checked out an '85 auto, 70K and a 80K '82 auto so far. The 16V worries me less than a 32V but the extra torque is really nice. A 5-spd would be nice but only if it's not balky. The 4-spd auto seems to work very nicely and LSD is a must have option in my opinion. I like black, red and grey.

Any advice and or leads would be appreciated.

Budget less than $9000.

Regards,

Brad

On that budget I would recommend a well maintained and nice looking '85-'86 32-valve. Then put in an X-pipe and Porken chips. The big difference between a 16-valve and a 32-valve is not so much the torque, but the horsepower.

Brad good luck with your search. Let me know if you need assistance on a local car, I can help with cosmetic inspections.

Welcome and Good luck on your search! Can you post the two you have already looked at, so we won't offer listings that you have seen.

Is this the '85 that you checked out: http://maine.craigslist.org/cto/1924558029.html? If not, it looks interesting.

Other than this, I haven't seen a local car that fits your description lately. Patience is definitely key in picking up a good 928 at a reasonable price.

Yup, I almost bought the one in Maine but it had no records (at all) and the seller wasn't into 'full disclosure.' Nice car but my gut said walk away.

There is a classified list here. 928gt.com (Dave and Jeannie Roberts at 928 Specialists) has FS list. It can get out of date, although he is in NC, it wouldn't hurt to call and ask if he knows of anything. Keep checking CL, autotrader and cars.com.
