JB good call, I would suggest a few drops of green loctite should set the pin in place

So I packed the coupler boot w/heavy grease. I mean I literally and liberally injected the grease to fill up the boot.

No more vibration! I did a s$&%load of full-band pulls, and mid-to-high rpm pulls. Nothing.
Tomorrow I'll be running the car all day, so I'll report back w/some more seat time.
330 miles later - not so good. Still better, but buzz still there.

Will be switching out this winter.

FYI when I installed my coupler I used some blue locktite on the threads and the tiniest bit of anti-sieze on the tip. If I've got to pull this again I'm hoping to not go through the seizing issues I did last time.

I put on a new, stock rear coupler and my "mystery" buzzing in the shifter went away.

I'm running the bronze bushings and my shifter started buzzing coincidentally with their install. I also installed new plastic bits in the shifter, a new (not cut) rubber boot, and a new front ball cup.

Last time I was in the shifter box I also added a couple of blocks of foam rubber, but this hasn't helped the buzzing either.

I did not press the pin out when installing the bushings. I cut out the plastic bushings and pushed the bronze ones in from the outside. So, at least, I don't think that a loose pin would be to blame. I'll probably try some other configurations of the foam blocks, to see if I can find some pre-load pressure from them that damps the vibration.

Any update on the solution to the buzzing? Mine used to buzz a little at high speed only in 5th gear but now it's doing it in third too and louder. I want it fixed. I do not know if I have brass or not as I have no changed it but the PO put in a Momo Short shifter and had the 5 sped rebuilt several years ago. My shifter is fairly right but not as tight as I'd like. I planned on switching to the bronze shifter cup but also now want to solve the new increased buzzing.

Perhaps it's time to get your hands dirty to see what exactly you have in there.

I believe the solution has already been stated in this thread. Get OE rear coupler bushings, or aftermarket Delrin ones.

My post was too see if the new type cups with Delron were actually produced and work better without buzzing. Based on length of ownership and deductive reasoning, I have oem or brass cups and buzzing. I will update them if they are the solution.

Yes, and have been for a few years. Roger keeps them in stock.

So is it both the front and rear cups that I replace? What's the approximate professional labor time to replace them? I have headers which I believe are in the way of the front cup. I think I've read your can get to the front cup from the inside of the car, is that true?
