+1 - I didn't glue mine in either after my recent interior restoration. The seat bottoms snug into their spots nicely and don't necessarily need to be re-glued - they just sit there (pun entirely intended).

But if you decide to glue them back in, use a contact cement or semi-permanent adhesive so you can yank them out again when needed.

Rob--

Consider gluing a couple short strips of Velcro to the well and the seat bottoms with yellow contact cement. That way they won't slide but you can get them out for work or cleaning. Maybe a small trim screw at the end of each short strip to keep them down. Just a couple near the front edge will be plenty. Use a large scraper or spatula to get them loose then.

Those seats are so rare and pretty that I'm not sure they should go in a car that ever gets out in the sun. The rears anyway would have slipcovers were they in my car. Anyway, awesome find and great score!

That is a great idea, I think that's the way I'll go.

I will be getting seat covers for these. Something I can pull on and off for events and such. This company:
http://www.iggee.com/shop.cart?actio...od_id=POR002CP
also makes covers for the rear, which I am considering. I usually just have the back seats folded down, which helps shade them, but covers would be even better.

Has anyone ever given thought to converting one of these donor pascha chairs into an executive office armchair (à la Recaro)?

I would pay a copious amount of money for one in good shape.

Well, not a factory original, but still:

Persistance pays off Bronto, well done.

I'd like to see a picture(s) of how they were packed for shipping.

Weird, i know. What can I say? I'm a maven.

BTW, great find. Pascha's one of the things that made the 928 for me at its first release.

I don't have a photo, but I can describe it.

It was sent in a single box, about 2x2x4 (vertical). One seat was placed at the bottom sitting normally (on it's base), the back seat cushions and back were placed around the edges and on the seat, and the other front seat was placed upside down oriented opposite the other seat so that there was a cavity inside (for the cushions, as mentioned). Everything was wrapped in thin foam sheets and then again in large bubble wrap. Very well packed.

Paul, I will now have a couple of old faded pascha seats on hand. How do I mount them on a base like you've got?

Well, Tass will be better than I to explain the specifics. I made the seat for him and he took care of ordering the base and did the mounting.

All the Recaro, are easy to mount to a standard base, especially if you or someone you know can weld. The later seats are a bit better, because they have 4 mounting tabs inboard of the rails. So the mounting hardware is out of sight.
