After 9 months I got to drive my car today DFW car on the road agin.
Drove it for quite a while and had a lot of fun for the first time in a while.I did sooo much work and it feels great to have it all done. Big thanks to the guys who have helped me here on the List and a big thanks to Roger and a huge thanks to Sean. Got ride height set up to within 3mm side ot side. Now all I need is an alignment and a detail. Surprising though the car drives strait although it certainly needs an alignment still.
BUT WAIT! There's more!!!
My AC compressor is not turning on now, have to check the charge and go from there. The worst bit though is that after I parked it I noticed oil dripping on the ground slowly at the rear. Well the tranny top cover leaks like a sumbitch. Of all the places it had to be there.
I do have a question though. Is there any place for some help with this issue at the tech session in september? I could really use some help with this if possible.

Sean on Brads computer.
Didn't you have the trans top off to replace the return spring?
The tech session in Sept will be doing my TT, trans, shocks in prep for Frenzy, don't know that there will be another one.

Sean,
I think you are wrong to say that there will be no more tech sessions in the DFW area.
There will be more Tech sessions just not at Brads place.

Yeah I took the top cover off to replace that spring. I resealed the trans rear cover, top cover, and detent spring on the side with Toyota FIPG trans case sealant. Awesome stuff, better than silicone and better than that paper peice of crap that normally goes there and just weeps its whole miserable life. I wonder if it could be the breather on top? I just don't know how the top cover could leak so much, I gave it the most attention of all of them. I would expect a leak like this if I didnt use sealant or a gasket. Guess Ill get the car cleaned up and take it back to Arlington to go back into the garage for a while to drop the rear crossmember. Damn.

The crappy factory paper gasket has a 3 inch wide "bridge" that goes across from one side of the cover to the other and covers the breather to stop oil splash flying out through the gaping hole in the breather vent.
I used the paper gaskets and a good spray of Hylomar on the gaskets to seal them. Not sure on leaks yet - still putting other bits of the car back together (new engine mounts about to go in).

That is likely the issue then, guess the stock gasket had some merrit after all. Why do tranny's and rear ends need to breathe in the first place? Maybe I can just cover it up or seal it?
