By the way, looking at the dialogue between Andrew and Stan, I think it is imperative that a position of "president emeritus" be created so that the outgoing president (if Stan does not retain the office) remains on the executive board and in the loop - there is a tremendous amount of experience there by Stan, and (again, if Stan doesn't win) I would hate to lose that. The emeritus position would always include the immediate past preseident, whoever he or she is. No matter what, I think we need to retain Stan's involvement in some capacity.

Just a thought...

As mentioned previously enhance 928oc website, maintain and update it regularly, work on more benefits for members, forum...and you will likely pick up more members.....
It's always hard to find volunteers to step up in those type of positions, congrats on your willingness to serve! Best of luck!

Funny... I don't look at my dues as "what can I get for me"... I look at it like ..what can I do to help further the 928 cause and keep the 928 flame burning bright... since I can't spend much time these days dedicated to 928 Stuff..I send in the money and the OC..uses it to help sponsor events and the like across the US, no matter who sets them up.
That's a good thing... ..
Hopefully if Andrew wins..we'll see gatherings outside of the Great Lakes area ..every once in a while at least

I will be quite content to spend more time on my (too) may projects (including my 928s) if I am not elected.

I'm sure just keeping the hosting fees for the website is expensive. The information that is there, pointing to places like Rennlist and the vendors is a huge benefit for the low cost that we pay in to it. Just my opinion, I don't think the OC, with such low dues, should be hosting events. Sponsoring yes, but not hosting. Now the OCIC is a different story, as far as I know, there has only been one year that OCIC didn't lose money on one.

Tom M.: You made a very important statement. The "whats in it for me" mindset is why much of this country is in trouble. (sorry, no more politics) By joining and creating a stronger, active and financially healthy organization you help the critical mass form to accomplish more; which then builds upon itself to create dynamic opportunities and values. Its kinda like paying forward and when the day is done, you will receive just in hints and tips alone, information worth far more than $30. Yeah, sure, you can be a non-member, lurk RL and suck information all day but you will not gain the benefit of the international camaraderie and friendships that ultimately result from an organization that is there to support your 928. For those that are saying "I'll wait and see what happens", I would urge you to consider joining now and make something happen instead.

Let's all step up here. Those on the fence-join now and vote. And volunteer. I read a lot of pent up energy. I know how damn hard it is to run a volunteer organization. Time is the most valuable asset we all have and rarely is it in greater supply than demand.
I'll help as much as I can as my schedule allows.
Thanks!
Michael

Personally, I'm not concerned at all with the size of the club or the activity of the web forums. It is a very healthy environment. Sure, it doesn't get the dialogue that this forum does. But not all dialogue is good dialogue. I see a bit of drama on this board from time to time. There is a presence of egos over here that is missing from the 928OC board. It makes for compelling reading, but I'm glad that I don't see that over there.

Well, perhaps it is time for the next volunteer to step up. Most members should know that David L. recently resigned as membership chair. Dave K. took the position less then 1 month ago, and has now realized the his schedule is not conducive to getting the membership process done.
In brief, from the top of my head:
The membership chair is appointed by the 928 OC board, and handles the 928 OC database (kept in a Excel file to suit David Lloyd's skill set), sending new member welcome emails out, advising members of impending renewals, organizing "den mother" (regional contact) volunteers, identifying renewal gift options and mailing member gifts to new and renewing members.
The membership chair is definitely one of the most constant efforts required, and clearly one of the most critical.

I initially joined the OC when I purchased my 928 because I thought it would be the place to go for info and help... but after the first few months getting little communication with others about issues and question about various things...I am glad I found rennlist...a godsend..the oc just had nothing for me almost like the letterhead on stationary but otherwise a blank page.
could the 928 OC somehow partner with rennlist, which seems to have alot of database just begging for organization as a help for owners. Or even a quicklink to the OC where fine sites like:
tony's site (I love how it is set up with drop down menus)
Nicols tips
dwaynes garage.(thanks dwayne and Bill)
the death knight etc....
only take all and compile in one database to be saved for eons. I will even go so far as to suggest that Tony be paid to organize the database and get it up to speed.
these are just kicking around thoughts but If anyone can organize people well like I think many of you can...this can be a launching pad!!
