I also use a Bra on the GT for long trips or when I plan on driving on the highway in heavy traffic.

No issues at high speeds (won't post how high ).

As others have said, keeping things clean are absolutely critical.

Follow these rules to maintain show condition paint.
1. Wipe the car completely clean before getting the bra anywhere near the paint. This includes cleaning the fender well edges.
2. Use blue painters tape at the edges of the fender well since it is impossible to keep the tabs clean near the front tires.
3. Keep the bra clean using a vacuum to suck debris from surface, especially at the edges.
4. Before removing the bra spray some water or quick detailer on the surface to quickly remove the debris. It doesn't have to be perfect but you don't want the dirt to accumulate and then get on the back of the bra when you fold it into the bag.

If you're not showing the car and are willing to take the extra time to clean/wax I would say that a clear bra is a better choice. I didn't like the way it looked on the 928 (too many hard edges) so I opted for the bra which I can remove.

^^^ What Afshin says, plus I put a strip of clear packing tape on the paint at the corners of the fenders where the top edge of the bra passes over. Dust stops there, and there is enough movement there to scratch; the tape protects that nicely. With good wax on the fender, the tape comes off easily.

I drove the L.A. to DFW and back run last summer for OCIC with the bra on, at comfortable 928 cruise speeds, and had no issues at all even when it was raining. The warning about using it in the rain is to keep the sun from steaming the paint and fogging it. If I'm driving no problems, but I wouldn't let it sit in the hot sun with the thing wet.

I have lots of trips with the bra on in Cali, particularly when driving up and down through the central valley. Cruising I-5 with traffic at 80+, the bugs and rocks are like bullets when you hit them. In the spring the bra looks like it didn't survive a yellow paintball war after a bay area jaunt. Lots of avoided damage.

Tape along the top is a great idea Bob, I'll keep that in mind.

I used to have a mag bra. Easy to install and remove due to it being magnetic. The magnetic bra's made it easy to wash a car.

Special aluminum magnets needed for a 928, I suspect.

I've also used magnets but I found that they lifted at the edges and it resulted in dust/dirt getting underneath and causing micro scratches. This was on a pearl black mercedes, not the 928

Did it stick well to the aluminium fenders and hood?

Good point, i forgot about the aluminum. LOL

Mine did lift once and took off like a kite. The main reason, i had not washed my car for several weeks due to it being winter. I liked the mag bra and also had the side fender bra's for the wheel flares.

I just forgot about the 928 being aluminum. I am still learning about these cars.

thanks jpc

I've got a brad new bra still in the bag w the ones for the mirrors. So, I take it that you guys recomend using it for long trips. We're going to be on the coast of Ca. next week, Ventura to San Francisco, with stops in Ventura, Morro Bay, Santa Barbera, Monterey, Frisco, over to Tahoe, back down to Vegas. I guess maybe I should put it on. I've never used one so I don't know the tricks of making it fit properly. I would welcome any tips.
Thanks Joe

Wow and I acutally finally sold/traded soming... my wife is so proud of me! So it was a win-win-win situation... one less thing taking up space in the office.

I'll be starting a thread soon of other items I have for sale/trade.
