Welcome to the club. No other car I've driven seems to hunker down and grip the road at 100+ MPH. Enjoy the project.

Welcome to the Shark Tank. Many of the problems you've found will probably be addressed with a combination of replacement fuses, relays, switches and possibly motors (I know I just covered everything but that's the order to check). Between your buddy and you you'll be able to find the best ways to diagnose each problem in this forum along with some remarkably talented (and usually very entertaining) folks.

Good luck and great driving!

Michael

Congrats.

The roof on a 928 is lower than any other Porsche I've seen it parked next to. My 01 Boxster S was 2 inches taller with it's top up. A 928 feels and drives like it is much larger than it is. Not only does it feel more stable at high speeds, you will find it is almost relaxing to drive through the twisties compared to the 996TT, but still keeps up just fine. My comparison is that it feels like a lazy boy compared to a task chair.

At the age of that car and how long it sat you will want to consider changing the timing belt. Water pump since you are in there and check your tensioner. You said it was an 82 right? At least you have a non interference engine so a broken timing belt is a nuisance rather than a top end rebuild.

Beautiful car. Love Red, second to black of course.

It's amazing how much abuse and neglect these cars can undertake and still keep running and driving, that is where the main problem comes in. People then don't bother to take proper care of them and alot of little things are just left to go to seed. The big one that can kill the running part is the timing belt, and a few unlucky people will vouch for that on here. Fortunately, yours is not an interference engine but many of them are.

Hello and welcome!

Lots of great people here. You've found the biggest congregation of 928 enthusiasts in the world.

Whatever the problem or question you can be sure that someone has run into it and had it solved here.

Get yourself a copy of the 928 CDs from Roger at 928sRus, spend some time in the New User FAQ and get comfortable.

We love pics and to help indoctrinating new owners. It's more like a cult than a fan base here but in a good way.

Looking forward to more pics...

Oh, and preventive maintenance is your friend. Go through it from top to bottom and front to back replacing all of the rubber bits and wear items up front as well as cleaning all grounds and fuse/relay connections. Your experience with the car will be MUCH better that way than if you start driving it and have to take it off the road every three months because of this vacuum leak or that bad ground connection. Good luck!

Greg, Welcome aboard. Not that I would have bought an old 928 sight unseen!

Thanks for all your support. I don't feel i am alone on this adventure. I can't wait to start going over the shark this weekend. I will be using the search button a lot so I don't ask any redundant questions. Again, thank you.

Welcome,
You have definitely made a wise decision .
This is a great place to get information and meet some really great people.
I just brought mine back from Seattle across country, and I can say that if the car suspension is solid you will definitely enjoy the ride at those speeds. I'm smiling now thinking about it.

Welcome and good luck! Awesome project!

My window's didn't work when I got the car. Took the panels off and banged the motor..............tada it worked!

Clean all grounds and go through your fuses and clean all connections.

You guys sound like a pretty cool bunch. If we were at a pub I would buy a round for everyone. Just sat in the car after a long grueling day at work. About to snap some photos and upload later. Best Regards. Gregporsche

To me what is so surprising is the quality of people and there responses and that they are from the world over, who would have thought, Ray
