Default Painted the balancer - thoughts?

I just got so tired of looking at that flaked off ugly orange paint on the balancer so I buffed off all the old paint and painted it with red caliper paint (left over from doing my brakes).

After it dried, I filled in the number etchings with a white crayon and then sprayed clear high temp lacquer over it to protect it.

Actually it turned out better than I thought it would. Not too bad.

Wont that crayon melt when the under hood temps get up there? I suspect the clear will keep it in place. Looks really good.

Thanks.

Yea, thought about the crayon melting, but I figured I'd give it a try.

I'll let you know after the first test run.

As a mechanic, flat black with white markings is my preference.

I think that is a coding device related to MY, not necessarily euro. GTS (US) also is lime green, and incidentally, subject to cracks due to bad application of a puller, I think. There were more cracks, so I replaced this one; need a paper weight?

That looks pro to me. Might have to do that next time that !@#$*! pulley has to come off.

I did the Chevy orange on my 84 and lime green on the GTS but never thought about lacquer. The lacquer makes it look a lot nicer. For my numbers and hash marks, I used a fine paint marker from Hobby Lobby--and no coffee that day. / Bruce

Well if the crayon melts all over the place, I guess I'll have to use real paint next time. Hopefully, it will be running by tomorrow. Found a huge crack it a relatively new (one year old) P/S belt. Got a new one tonight.

Cheap paint, lots of colors, small throw-away bottle with a built-in brush applicator, cleans up easily with paint thinner when wet, acetone once dried. Nail polish. Also handy for replicating the factory QC marks on bolt heads.
