Default The last A/C relay.

I just ordered the very last A/C relay known to mankind. Yeah, I didn't need it, my A/C doesn't work anyway, so I figured it was a sound investment. Taking offers right now.

I found a secret stash of them on a hook at the local electronics parts place. $925 each so I don't spoil Maleficio's market, and so he can afford to buy some clothes for that poor homeless woman he found tied to the leapard sofa.

I just checked and they have plenty in a warehouse in Thailand. I am thinking "roadtrip".

Nope, I got the last one. Don't go for those Chinese knockoffs. They start fires.

Mine is genuine Porsche, and available for $1400.

It's an interesting experience to get the last of an avialable part - sort of sad sometimes. When I was restoring my 88 Z about 5 years ago I got the last driver's side rubber trim piece for the side mirror from old stock at a dealership in Oregon. It does make owning an old car a bit unnerving to think you are relegated to used parts from then on.

Roger, I know you are kidding, at least I hope so, b/c you hit a very sore topic for me right now. I just spent several hours installing a knock off ignition switch. I didn't know it was knock off, and to the OP, I have had it so long I can't in good faith return it, so this is two part issue: for a relay, all you risk??? is being dumped in the break down lane, but you should bench test if you can before you stockpile. Frankly, b/c I bought it more than 2 years ago, I am not even spending time to search my receipts, but I know someone confessed to knowledge of a bad batch of ignition switches, and I don't know that it came from that vendor. Well, I have one of them and in checking out why my key wouldn't turn with the new switch, it fell apart in my hands, and partly in the car as installed, steering wheel is not locked, the wheel will lock on turning and key will unlock, but then stops; it is this POS switch. My time is too valuable and it is too painful go through the contortions mental and physical this car requires.

Some may note, this also turned into a problem with the female part of the wiring connector coming apart and my spending another couple hours researching wiring diagrams and getting that connector reassembled. If I had stipulated Porsche parts, I would[delete "wouldn't"] have been enjoying life, not bitching here. If you are doing this, be careful, that connector is another skill you don't want to learn.

Porsche had a bad green wire on the market themselves.

Okay, I’ll bite and try to add some interest.

If a relay is just a relay which is basically an on off switch that handles more current than an electronic type, why are there some many different ones on a 928? I could see more power or a different number of poles or something,

Seriously though… are people really paying big money for relays? If so, why? Just curious.

Settle down, boys. It's not the last A/C relay - he's just busting Randy's ***** over this thread.

And I'm just reading it because of his new avatar.

Here she is. I just ordered the last set of aluminum ball joints today. I'll take $1750 for them.
