Default 1978-79 fuel line hose

Does anyone have a used US, '78 or '79 fuel hose (larger return line hose on passenger side of engine bay) for sale. I need one for the fittings.

Maybe, the fitting is the same male fitting I need. How long is the braided hose? My replacement hose is 3/8 fuel injection hose that is approximately 8 7/8" long, not counting fittings. Thanks, Greg Heinrichs

Do you have access to or a source for the fitting? I can not find one and I need one to put on a new lenghth of hose. I damaged one off the old hose.

The hose pictured is a complete return hose for a '78. Personally, I would not use it. One reason being that the teflon hose is crimped onto the original barbed ends (as opposed to being crimped onto whatever kind of barbed end the hose was designed for). You can just remove the hose and re-use the fittings. These fittings are off of an early '78, and the return line used the exact same plastic pressure hose as used on the feed line. That means that instead of using 3/8" hose, you'll use the same hose as the pressure side (5/16"?).

The fittings were probably made by Cohline, and as far as I can tell, are NLA. The flare nuts are still available. I banished every one of these evil fittings from my car, except for the two on the accumulator. PM me if you want this hose.

Jon,
Thanks again. My return hose is larger than the feed hose on my '78, US and it is 3/8" interior diameter. Will the fittings on the hose work for me? I think so if it is off an early 928--my feed hose has female fittings. If we are talking about the hoses that run alongside and down from the passenger side cam tower, I am willing to give it a try, if you have no use for the hose and it is not prohibitively expensive. My address is Greg Heinrichs, 1245 Park Ave, apt 17H, New York, NY 10128. I keep my 928 in a garage in NJ. What did you replace your fittings with? The nut on the male fitting at the juncture with the hose on my metal feed to the fuel distributor is in rough shape and I have to use vice grips to grip it and break it loose. Best, Greg

Greg, these fittings will work fine on your car, and yes, we are talking about the two short hoses next to the cam tower. My troubles started when I went to replace my accumulator. I couldn't get the lines off the accumulator, due to severe corrosion. So, I ended up removing the long front-to-back hard lines with the hoses and accumulator still attached. At one point I had the accumulator in a vise and was whaling on the flare nut wrench with a 4 lbs. hammer. Damn thing fought me every inch of the way! While attempting to loosen one of the engine compartment hose connections, a male flare nut actually sheared in half. I ended up fabricating all new hard lines and hoses for my car, from the tank to the fuel distributor and back, CuNi with 37-degree JIC flare fittings. OB's are special, aren't they?

I'll drop the hose in the mail to you.
