go to harbor freight, and buy a package of heat shrink insulation it comes in 5 different sizes and each roll is about 3 feet long for 7.00 ,
then you can use this to insulate the ground wire. It makes it look factory

As you will want the wire to be disconnected at some point in time, otherwise you will have to remove the spare to remove the terminal from the battery

Definitely a good find, and the harbor freight for shrink tubing is another good suggestion. I just replaced my ground strap, got a 15" from O'Reiley's and a 19" from Tractor supply...so I have $20+ in ground straps, one too long and the other too short....and that was just last week. By the way, much has been written about bad grounds....and straps, my old one looked fine, clean at both ends, even looked good / clean /uncorroded with the insulation removed, and tested good with an ohm meter specifically used for testing such items. But it wasn't good at times....instrument panel gauge twitches followed by the car being completely dead in my driveway 2 times. A bit of movement of the ground cable and all would work again. New ground cable, no more twitches, and no more ocassional "DID" (dead in driveway) capers...

Good point to insulate the ground strap. I just slit the OEM covering down the back and reused it. Used black duct tape to mend the slit on the new strap.
