Excellent! I have a case of beer, case of powerade, cooler, case of Mobile1 and a few other misc items. I need to run by the store on my way out. Autozone quit carrying my flavor of Mobile1. I grabbed the last 6 quarts from Walmart.

just wanted to say thanks to all who helped with my car today. Brad L, John C, Roger T, Sean R and Jim M. Many thanks especially to Brad W. for allowing us to invade his wonderful shop.
Jim... I'll let you do the honors on the horrors that took place...

Out of what was accomplished, only one was a horror. It just happened to be with your car.
Never mind the fact that the water pump appeared to crap out, only to find out that was not the issue, 1/2 way through a timing belt/water pump job. Only to find out when that was complete, it got worse.
Sorry buddy.
It was a fantastic gathering with lots of new people, a few odd jobs done, and we might be able to welcome a new 928 owner to the mix due to it. John and Mike cooked up some great breakfast, and Brad got some good meat grilling in the afternoon.
Big thanks to Roger who kept going for parts, and sponsored the gathering. Huge success.
I'll leave it to Jim to say what got done and where.

Brad.... thanks to you and your wonderful wife for putting up with us. No way we could accomplish what we do without your place and the tools!
Will check on the water heater for you this week.

Just got back from the DFW Tech session, whew, what a day. Besides being exhausted we accomplished a lot on 3 of the 4 cars we worked on. More about the fourth later.
First up, 928s-R-us provided breakfast for the group, bacon and eggs, any style as long as you wanted sunny side up, dougnuts and coffee and or orange juice. Later for lunch, again hosted by 928s-R-us was hamburgers with all the fixings, beer soda or water. Lots of breaks in the swimming pool and the shop was air conditioned to make our toil less heat stressful. Hey it a tough job but someone's got to do it.
The cars, oh yeah that's what we were there for. Well the first car on the rack was John Leidel's white 88. The plan was new motor mounts, rack bushings and an oil pan gasket change. Bad choice, as soon as we installed the motor support tool on the top of the engine a water leak developed from the water pump. Okay plan "B" push it over to the side and change the water pump and while we're at it do a Porken tensioner, new oil pump gear, new ignition rotors and a couple of plug wires that fell apart while trying to remove them and service the A/C.
While that was going on my car went on the rack for motor mount changes, aluminum rack bushings and the new Motorsport SLC mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust system . No problems encountered and the job was done in record time. Excellent fit on the exhaust system and the test drive showed a definite boost in the ***-o-meter. Not quite as much as the x-pipe but definatly noticable. The sound is just awesome too!
Next up was Richard Maddox's black beauty for new Koni shocks. That also went very smoothly.
While the shocks were being switched over we did a Sharktune to Roger's GTS. Accomplished an auto tune in about 30 minutes of driving around. Per Roger; again the ***-o-meter felt a big improvement.
Finished the shocks and now back to John Leidel's white 88. Bad day in black rock for John. Water pump done A/C serviced, new Porken tensioner and the car is running so we move it over to the rack to do the MM's and pan gasket. Drop the pan and what we saw almost made us cry. John's engine had apparently bottomed out at some point in it's life and cracked the block in two places. Both fixed with JB weld. (DAMN PO'S). With that piece of news we all stopped working and debated plan "C"?????????????????????????????
I'll start a new thread to get everyone's opinion and suggestions on possible fixes. See "Block damage What would you do?"
Even with the bad news it was a great turn out with lots of folks dropping in just to say high and look on. Even had the ladies helping.

So very, very bummed about John's car.
Seeing all the other fun and work you guys have in Dallas makes me want to pack up and move. My wife would do it in a hearbeat (her folks and family are in Houston and Dallas)....
