Not sure what you are getting at. You think I'd be better off parting it? I've already created a spreadsheet with a list of the parts that I think people would be interested in along with what I believe are realistic prices. Are you suggesting that the value of the parts would be less than $3500?

Gary,
Great choice in giving selling it a try.

I really like the color! Is is a respray?

It really has alot going for it... no rub strips, good color combo, 930 steering wheel, S4 brakes.
Anything else interesting?

Where are you at on the parts not together... do you have them?

You could probably sell the car in 24 hours for $2500, as is.

$3500 may take a little buttoning up and crank end play check.

$4500 with a solid going over and detail.

Jim,
I believe the color is original. I like the color combo, but some may think it's too eighties. It does have rub strips, they have just been removed from the car. The previous owner was in the process of disassembling the car when he passed away. He was going to have it painted (I think) and convert it to a manual transmission (This I'm sure of as it came with a number of the pieces for a conversion, and he had already swapped over the pedals). I believe the car is complete with the exception of the seat controller.

I agree with your price ranges on the car in various states. I'm not in any particular hurry to get rid of it, but I am trying to reduce the stable. I've reached the unofficial limit (according to the wife). Unless I get rid of a couple of cars, any future car purchases will likely have to be matched with similarly priced jewelry.

Ahhh, I remember when this changed hands last time. It was a good deal.

Yeah, it was a good deal. The house where it was stored had sold and the new owners were moving in the next week so the car had to be gone the same weekend that it was listed. The last thing I needed at the time was another project, but it was too good of a deal to pass up (or at least had the potential to be a really good deal). Plus, I wanted some of the spare parts that came with it. When I bought it, I had no idea if it ran, and the seller couldn't tell me anything about the car as he was just selling it for the PO's wife.

Part of me would like to keep it, which is why I won't let it go too cheaply. Worst case, I'll keep it and work on it when I have time. I could always give it to my daughter when she turns 16 (she's 1 1/2 now). Seriously though, I will likely sell it. The only question is when and how much time and money I'll put into it before selling or parting it.

I was in a NAPA in Springfield, MA, and an employee there was interested in a 928 locally. If you provide your name and number (you can PM me if you prefer) I will see if he is a candidate. He knew enough about 928s to be a real possibility in my opinion.

I am thinking about time to sell and realistic selling prices of parts minus the labor needed to sell them. Many of the part you could end up sitting on for a LONG time, and space required for storage almost doubles when a car is disassembled.

Mike,
I still don't get your point!! It would be better if you would just come out and say it rather than dropping these round about comments. If you think I'm being optimistic in my reserve price, feel free to just say it. It doesn't matter in the least to me. I'm not some noob who is new to the forums or 928s. I've been around the forum for a while, much longer than you, and this is my fourth 928. I know what they sell for, and I know what parts sell for as I've spent the last 8 years watching parts sold here as well as Ebay.

I really appreciate the helpful comments and advice that people here at Rennlist offer, but comments, like yours, which come across as cryptic and even condescending, really annoy me sometimes.

Yes, I know parting a car takes space. I have a five car garage and live on seven acres of land, space is not a problem. Yes, I know it takes time. Yes, I know it could take years if I wait to sell every single part. Why don't you tell me something that I don't know? Are you trying to be helpful or just annoying?

I'm not being cryptic, what I said are things to consider, since the original posts seemed to have some indecision. I've got no way to know how much space you have or expertise in used parts prices. My opinion is that the prices are optomistic, and that parting it may be a bigger pain than assumed. Its the wrong coast for me to have any direct interest, so I'm just watching regardless.

I watched the 32V part-out done recently by Giovanni. The result appeared to be far greater than 5K.
No matter what is decided, Esprit won't get hurt on this one.
