I will find out if they fit. Mark is sending his over to me, with the regulator too (just in case). Will probably be a few weeks before delivery, but I will update the post when I find out.

I'm a sceptic, to be honest, but its possible that the spacing might just allow it to work.

Looking forward to having open windows during the summer!

Seems like Martin discovered the motors were interchangeable when separated from the little gearbox.
Its been a few months and my memory is fading.
I sent him the motor and gearbox from an 83. (I still have the regulator if anybody needs it).
Martin installed the motor, as I recall, on his 85/6 car.

A change was made for 84 to modify the rate at which the window moved, compared to earlier cars.

Chris, thanks for reminding me! Simon, I looked in my parts box and sure enough, I still have the 8-tooth gearbox. If the ones Mark sent you don't work, you could pair this gearbox with one of those motors (I am absolutely sure that's possible, having done it). The 'box looks ok, just in need of dismantling and cleaning. Just let me know. And if anyone is following this thread who needs the 8-tooth unit, if Simon doesn't you are welcome to it, first come first served of course.

And I have its matching window regulator that has the spring and accepts the glass and the gearbox.

Jim,
I have found alternatives for both the 8 tooth and the 10 tooth motors.
On the 10 tooth my price is $95 for the Left and $132 for the right.
Why a price difference I have no idea - supply and demand I am sure.

The 928 part number motors became NLA - left in 2007 and right in 2008.
Some stock still out there but expensive.
