Default Aux. Fan Recomendations

Need to know the best flowing elec. fan to replace front 16". The two small 8" puller fans combined with the front pusher fan just can`t keep up in the HOT Arizona summer. S/C required removal of belt driven setup.

When car is moving, all is good. No problems even in 100+ degrees. But if I get into Stop and Go traffic, It will quickly start to rise. My digital temp guage and IR readings confirm this. Just not enough air flow at stand still.

Who has replaced their front mounted 16" with something that flows 2000+ CFM?? ..... That also won`t overwhelm our wonderful electrical systems.

Thanks, Kevin

2 x 11" SPAL as here...
http://www.the-fan-man.com/shop/size....html?cPath=33
$203. Covers 95% of the core, just needs a little work to mount it. 2780CFM, almost inaudible inside the car. Check the motor specs on the spal-usa site - IIRC they are rated at 10,000 hour life. I have a separate relay for each fan.

Have you prevented hot air recirculation? Lower engine pan in place, side and top seals in place?

3.8L Taurus e-fan - low speed is around 3000 cfm, and high is 3800-4000 cfm.

Purchased mine for $60, and height-wise, it fits the 928 radiator perfectly. Width, it leaves about 3 inches. Depth is also fine, once you remove the old belt fan, if equipped.

Wally: seals are in place, small engine pan is MIA

Richter: That Taurus fan is awesome. I have one on my Jeep. Unfortunately, it is set up as a puller with a full shroud. I need to go with a pusher out front. Not enough room between S/C and radiator for rear mount.

I also looked at 928MS, 16" Spal. Looks nice, quality unit, but only pushed 2000cfm Vs 1200cfm for stocker. Also on the pricey side for what it is. $200+ delivered

Thanks for your replys. I have ordered a ZIRCO 16" pusher with S blades. Should move 3000cfm. Low draw, high torgue motor. Bolts on in stock location and I can use stock mounts. $150.00 delivered.

I haven't looked too hard at doing it, but to turn a pusher into a puller, wouldn't you just reverse the polarity? It's a DC motor after all.

Kevin,
Is your A/C still intact and operational? I have the Spal 16" 3000 CFM condenser fan, and the two 8" behind the rad. On extreme 95f+ and very high humidity, my engine temps creeps up when sitting at a stop light. Not overheating but 3/4 way up on the dash temp gage.
f I don't use the A/C on extreme days then everything is in ck. But the additional heat of the condenser drives the engine coolant temps up additional 40-50f!

Also Kevin I just noticed your Powerdyne is sucking in 200f underhood air. Move the intake to the left front fender under the headlamp. Your risking cracking piston rings lands. (See my thread of broken SC pistons)

Tony, Yes my A/C is operational. Matter of fact it will freeze my *** out of car!!. That air intake is next on my hit list. Hope to have done in next couple weeks. I have been using 928 as daily driver for last couple months while I do a major refurb on my Jeep GrandCherokee. As soon as thats done I will pull 928 off road and do a long list of upgrades/repairs ie: motor mounts, pan gasket, air intake, rack bushings, cooling fan,,blah blah blah. In the parts gathering stage

If the car iddles in traffic, will it actually go into the RED? If not then there is nothing to worry about.

I just bought the Spal 2047 straight blade. It is set up as a pusher. I spoke with tech support at Spal and that is the one he recomended. The straight blade puts out more cfm than a curve blade however it is louder. Look at their web site for more fan options, They have a 40 amp fan that needs a seperate harness. 30102803HO
