Ron--

Bilsteins are the shocks while Eibach makes a performance spring. The action of the Eibach spring is "progressive" in that the winding spacing gets smaller at one end. That means the load to travel spec is not linear. That gives you a somewhat-streetable spring rate with small deflections, getting stiffer the harder it works.

Meanwhile, I'm not sure what "regressive valving" is in a shock absorber.

Seems to imply that the harder it gets worked, the less damping it provides, so if you're driving on the street, it's stiff, and on the track it provides a pogo stick effect....??????

Not sure what you are asking.

The springs provide no damping. The spring rate is non-linear over it's total compression range. Contrast with a stock spring that compresses in a more linear fashion. Linear means that adding 400 lbs of load deflects (shortens) the spring twice as much as adding 200 lbs. Non-linear or 'progressive' might mean that the first 200 lbs of load deflects the spring 2/3 of the amount that 400 lbs does.

Menwhile, the shocks don't carry the weight of the vehicle. They do restrict the rate of change in length of the spring. Generally, the faster you try to move them, the more restriction they provide. Some shocks aree actually velocity-sensitive, others have metering rods and orifices that limit the flow of oil through small passages as they are extended and compressed. The selection of which passages and which orifices and metering rods do the limiting is made by directional valves, so you can have different rates based on direction of travel (compression or rebound) as well as where the shock is in its range of travel.

I have the combo koni - eibach on my 86.5 and the driving experience is the same as the 2007 Audi A 6 Kombi 3.0 TDI Quattro S-Line with 19 " rims my wife drives.
It´s sporty but not to harsh.
My shop says the bilstein shocks are noisy and he prefers koni.

I wonder what they mean by that?
