Default Rod Bearings

Hey guys
Is there any difference between the rod bearing halfs? A top and bottom , Or if you prefer a shell for the rod and one for the cap? How do you tell them apart
Thanks
Sean

Default rod bearings

Good question, I am waiting on a new set from Roger, should be here any day now.
Looking at the shells I have removed I can see no difference between them, so I'm sure they are interchangeable.
Maybe some one who has done a few will be able to enlighten us if my assumption is incorrect.

It is my understanding that when you buy a set from Porsche there may very well be a difference in size, but as far as the location in the rod, any size will fit into the rod, but it may not have the right clearance.

They are color coded for size from Porsche.

Yes, that is the problem, the Porsche bearings are really the best ones, the Glyco's are tight and there is only one part number for the Porsche ones, and you do not know which color size you are going to get and from what I have learned is that the two in the box of one set will be different sizes.

When I did mine there was indication that there was a "top" or a "bottom". I have to admit, I really didn't know what I was doing at the time. I just slathered them in oil, and put them on. I think that was 3 years ago. So far so good. Sometimes it's better to be lucky, than good.

That almost implies that you do know what you are doing now.

No, it just means I now know I don't know what I'm doing. Next step will be to gain the knowledge so I will then know that I know, ya know?

Advise at the time was to use plenty of oil. It wasn't a totally dry start up. I did them when I had the oil pan off.

These cars have a way of soundly driving that point home.
I figure out that I do not know much every time something new breaks on mine.
