Default Flatbed Towing Only?

I have only had my '85 auto towed a couple of times and that has always been on a flatbed. Is this the rule of thumb or is it permissable for it to be lifted from the rear and towed? Thanks.

Odds are they will lift it up and then the front spoiler will drag even the flatbed guys have trouble loading and strapping down a 928...they OFTEN put hooks on the rear spring plates and BEND them !

SO true! sometimes they will often lay out a couple of t2x4's to gain more clearance when pulling it on to the bed but I had an experience with one where they bent my front spoiler almost in half. Sometimes getting it back off the truck is of equal challenge. I suggest you take pics of your front end/spoiler (including both side pics of where it wraps to the fender) before loaded and once loaded. It served my purpose of the tower paying for the replacement of a new spoiler on one occaision when I was not at the drop-off point to watch the unload..

Lastly - to Jim's point, where they hook-up to can also be a challenge. I've insisted they use the front screw-in tow ring when I've had this need.

My last tow (always on a flat-bed when Hagerty's is paying) was done very professionally. The driver insisted on using the rear tow hook, and he kept wiggling the bed back-and-forth to get a good angle on it so that NOTHING scraped. If a guy wants to rush it and not do it properly, tell him to stop immediately and get his supervisor to send someone else - he'll take his time after that.
