So I was flipping through this month's edition of excellence magazine and I found an ad for Fuchs Racing. Apparently, they've applied for and received the trademark for the classic Fuchs wheel style in the US. They plan on producing a modern series of Fuchs wheels made to fit modern Porsche chassis. Presumably, this implies modern offsets, wider dimensions and larger diameters.
I had a set of color-matched [Guards Red] 16" Fuchs on my 80'... but since replaced them with a more modern set of 17" wheels from the Boxster series. They looked really cool, but drove very poorly [floating at high speed] due to slim widths [6" up front].
Their website is very sparse on details and pictures, but the frontpage has a small teaser. Personally, I'm unusually excited about these due to my love affair with the original Fuchs.

The latest "Top Gear" tests a limited edition 997 that has some fantastic looking Fuch style wheels as OEM equipment. Just another reason to watch Top Gear...like I needed one anyway!

We've been talking about this for a couple of years.
Here's sort of a summary.
Porsche contracted with someone (other than Otto Fuchs in Germany) to produce a CAST version of an upsized "Fuchs" windmill wheel. It first came out on the Sport Classic 997/911 limited edition car. (Unfortunately, the wheels initially were for wide body cars. They have expanded the option to the narrow body 997s recently).
The Chinese have copied that cast wheel and we're seeing them on eBay already. 28 lbs up front and 35 in the rear. (Which is considerably higher in weight than they should be, but reflects the CAST process that requires thicker walls to get the same level of strength)
Otto Fuchs in Germany (who lost the contract with Porsche to produce their own design for the Sport Classic cars and the Tequipment line of "Fuchs" wheels) is currently ramping up to make FORGED versions in various dimensions and offsets for the 997 and other modern Porsches. I'm not sure when their wheels will be available.
Fuchs Racing has been busy with designing a modern Fuchs windmill for the past 2-3 years and will be selling their one-piece FORGED wheels this Autumn. Their designs will be different from the Sport Classics wheels in that they are FORGED and one piece--and thus, considerably lighter and stronger.

"Thanks for the message, and as a former 928 owner, I sympathize with you. We will be offering our FP-1 drop forged wheel in 18” diameters that fit 928s!
Wll be happy to keep you updated, and thanks again for the message!"

I received a response back from the folks at Fuch's Racing last night. Indeed, they will have 18" drop forged models available to fit the 928.

It's just my opinion, but I never thought the Fuchs wheel looked very good on the 928. I only saw a picture of a 928 w/these on it. I have a set on my 924S. I still think the Fuchs wheel is THE best looking wheel there is, just not on a 928.

Lindsey Racing has be taking stock Fuchs, cutting the centers out and mounting them on 17 and 18 barrells with whatever offsets you want for 6 years now. Racers have been using them because they like the Fuchs look and better tire selection of larger diameter wheels.

Please post the direct link to their 18s. Currently, I only see 16s & 17s. Thanks in advance
